I bought an engine (without gearbox) in the summer, and am currently reconditioning it now. Unfortunately i have been unable to locate the engine codes, and also some of the part numbers from the engine are not on the data base on this site. I have also phoned my local VW dealer, and checked against their parts list, and they could not find some of the parts either. The engine is from a polo, apparently a 1.6, around the mid '90s (date stamps are either 94 or 95). Since i now have the engine in bits (bearings mainly) these are going to have to be renewed.

Can anyone shed any light upon the reason why my parts are not in the catalogue? Its also making finding some of the gaskets difficult too.

The code was apparently AE? I have ordered bearings for an AEE, and these dont fit.
