Hi all,

Well purchased a 55 plate A4 2.0 TDI Avant few weeks ago and noticed a rattle coming from the engine.

Took it to a mechanic who said it very much sounds like the dreaded chain failure

My only saving grace is that there is a chance it is gear driven.



I know they started to replace the chains with gear driven components in 2006 but made the engine's earlier so was hoping that there may be someone who can look up for me what system this car has on it.

Completly gutted took me ages to save up for one and now facing huge bill.

So any help would be great, thanks all
