i own a 89model mk2 jetta 1800 8v want to know if the golf jumbo 1.8 16v clutch and pressure plate will fit in mine...

Hello, I am having difficulty removing the steering spline spacer from the steering shaft on my sons 98 Jetta. We are replacing the ignition electrical switch and need to gain access to the retainer screw on the switch.
We have used a puller to attempt removal of the spacer but with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions?
