At idle, although the rev counter needle barely moves, every other second there is a vibration felt through the car, particularly noticeable when sat in the vehicle with hands on the controls.

Car is painfully un-responsive, is reluctant to rev beyond 4500rpm (sounds rough too). While under the bonnet with the engine running I \'blipped\' the throttle by hand and noticed a \'sucking\' noise like air rushing in/out of somewhere around the throttle body inlet manifold, similar to the noise you get from fitting an induction kit- the initial \'whoosh\' noise before the \'roar\' of the induction kit. Could this be something as simple as a crank case breather? I know that cars running a MAF sensor such as this one are generally very sensitive to air leaks beyond the air flow meter.

Any suggestions?
