Lupo knock through the steering wheel (2001)

For a long while now i have felt a kncking through the steering when turning from one direction to the other. It is worse when the egine isn't running. I have read somewhere that there is a bearing problen in the steering column. Does anyone know what it is?

It sounds like the same problem i have, although ive never got to the bottom of what it is. It has not caused any problems though.
