Ignition Cut-Out Problem

Does anyone have any idea why the ignition cuts out on a 2.0 8v when attempting a hill start or pulling away from lights. The engine revs freely from idle, but at the clutch bite point, the ignition randomly cuts causing the car to kangeroo hop. The only remedy is to apply a gentle throttle, slipping the clutch until a very gentle bite is applied. This makes steep hill starts impossible - engine stalls completely. At aproximately 2000rpm, the car pulls normally.

The symptoms you describe is often caused by a loose wiring harness connector, or faulty (corroded, burned or poor contact from loose terminals) contacts inside a harness connector, or a broken wire somewhere in the wiring harness relevant with the ignition system. As the engine shifts on torque reaction, the harness connector is moved by the engine motion, provoking the loss of electrical contact, specifically involving the power supply or ground circuits to and from the engine from the chassis. With the engine idling, trans in park or neutral gear, parking brake firmly applied, grab the wiring harnesses in the engine compartment and on the engine, and firmly stress the harnesses. At some location, you will likely induce the ignition cut-out that occurs when driving.
