Audi A6 4.2 year 2000 Where is the Thermostat located???
Help - I can not find out where the thermostat is located on a 2000 Audi A6 4.2. Can someone please help. Car is overheating and already replaced the fan clutch, now plan to replace the thermostat but can not find it. If someone who has replaced this if you can also advise if you should take the nose off and any other suggestions.

In addition, examine the coolant pump impeller. Make sure it is tight on the shaft. A common cause of overheating, is the impeller becomes loose and slips on the drive shaft, usually plastic impellers fail this way. Replacement coolant pumps made by the German OEM, are available with a metal impeller and will not fail this way again.

also if your thermostat has failed then the best and easier way to confirm this is to touch the 2 pipes that go into the radiator, if the one on the left(viewed from driver seat) is hot and the one on the right is cold then your thermostat is faulty
